Staying Warm. Winter in Villefranche

The weather has been pretty chilly here in our little corner of Europe recently. Not as cold as some places of course.  When I look at what some of my friends in the USA and Canada are dealing with I realise that I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to the weather, but I’m British and we don’t really do extremes of weather either one way or another.  For me, minus 5 was enough for me to get the hat and gloves out – even though the school run involves me marching up a pretty big hill and I always find myself in the school cloakroom dripping with sweat (its my daily workout!)
This gorgeous hat was a Christmas gift from my parents and I love it.  It perfectly suits my face and looks glam as well as being super practical and of course toasty warm.  It goes well with one of my favourite scarves (I have many!) and the fur collar is actually a gorgeous wrap that I was given by a friend who found it a bit too glam.  I had been saving it for the next time I needed a glamorous wrap on a night out but I quickly realises that there are no glamorous nights out in Villefranche-de-Rouergue (one of the things I love about this place) and so now it adds a bit of glamour to my day to day.
The finishing touch for me is always my make up and regardless of how cold it is I cannot do the school run without something on my face.  It takes me no time at all to apply a spot of cream foundation, a coat of mascara, a quick application of eyeliner and the final flourish is my red lippy.  Red is my winter colour of choice and this formula protects my lips against the cold wind and icy rain.  The final look is neat and the hat helps to hide the fact I have spent far more time on my face than on my hair!  Just don’t ask me to take it off!
